Audition Information

2023 - 2024 Season

Audition Date: Saturday, August  19, 2023

Time: 8:00 - 4:00 pm (Winds in the morning & Strings in the afternoon)

Location: Idaho State University, Fine Arts Building (Goranson Hall)

Who is Required to Audition?
 - All ISU and area HS students wishing to be a part of the ISCS must audition annually for placement.
 - All new community members.
 - Any players wishing to be considered for our vacant principal positions.

We will be hearing scheduled auditions for section rotation consideration for all string and wind sections, and any sublist considerations. Principal auditions will be scheduled in 20-minute time slots.  Section auditions will be scheduled in 10-minute time slots. Please prepare the requirements listed below.

Tenor trombone audition material:
1. Exposition or opening of a tenor trombone solo (chosen by auditionee)
2. Rossini: Barber of Seville Overture (Symphonic version) G - first note of H (2nd trombone)
3. Mozart: Requiem, III, 2 (Tuba Mirum), entire movement Tenor trombone part (trombone 2)          

Bass trombone audition material:

1. Exposition or opening of a bass trombone solo (chosen by auditionee)
2. Rossini: Barber of Seville Overture (Symphonic version) G - first not of H (3rd trombone)
3. Mozart: Requiem, II Kyrie - entire movement
