Soprano Rachel Sparrow has been praised for her “terrifically accurate, effortless-sounding fioratura”, having won awards in several national and international competitions. True to her personal motto of “Think outside your box!”, Sparrow’s Carnegie Hall debut in 2014 showcased her versatility, as she is equally comfortable singing classical repertoire as well as Broadway and contemporary styles of singing (she even belts in a cover rock band).
Sparrow graduated from Idaho State University (2010) with two bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance, (benefitting from voice and violin scholarships) having studied under Dr. Diana Livingston Friedley. She then earned a Master of Arts in Voice Performance at Northwestern University under Pamela Hinchman’s tutelage. Sparrow sings frequently with professional baroque and contemporary ensembles, often participating in world premieres. Residing in the Chicago area with her wonderful husband Trent, and two children, they visit family here in Idaho often. When she’s not performing or with her family, Rachel arranges solo sacred music and teaches privately.
